Nappo strikes early, again

Mount Mercy advanced to Wednesday's championship game of the Monsignor Martin girls lacrosse playoffs with a 15-11 triumph over Buffalo Seminary. Melissa Graham scored five times and Kate Purcell had three goals for the Magic, who will play at Mount St. Mary for the title at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.
In Monsignor Martin boys lacrosse, Bishop Timon-St. Jude completed an unbeaten league record season with a 10-0 win over St. Joe's. Luke Mann scored three goals to lead the Tigers (13-3, 8-0).
City Honors' tennis team improved to 12-0 in the Buffalo Public Schools' Dr. Bapst coed league with an 8-0 victory over Emerson. The Centaurs will attempt to finish a perfect season Thursday against daVinci (11-1).

Mike Crowe has taken his twin sons hunting and fishing as well as to baseball and football games.

When all is said and done, the list gets pretty lengthy.
And now, Faron Asham is hoping to create more work for us.
Asham and his colleagues at Triple Crown Baseball are in the formative months of a new endeavour, aiming to make the recruiting process a little easier and a little less confusing for high school athletes and their families.
Triple Crown, which has become a successful local organization that puts on baseball player and coach development clinics while also dabbling in baseball and softball equipment sales, is adding recruiting to its business ventures. The local company is providing hopeful athletes with packages that will guide them through the recruiting process while also spotlighting them to potential post-secondary suitors.
The program, which quietly got put in motion last summer and has already authentic Cody Ross jersey Black helped some athletes land scholarships, is meant to disseminate information to parents. Asham said the overwhelming feedback Triple Crown received from colleges in the United States was that videos were imperative to have because many colleges don't have the athletics authentic Buster Posey jersey Black budgets to come north and see athletes first hand.
"(People think) they'll find us, they'll find us. Well, that's not really true," Asham said. "You really have to go promote yourself unless you're an exceptionally skilled athlete. ... It's the players that play with the superstars, maybe they're not getting any recognition.
... So we're Cody Ross official jersey focusing more on not the upper-end athlete but the athlete that's got a real good skill set and supplements that with some scholastic abilities and if we can put the package together they're going to get an offer down south, there's no doubt about it."
Asham says the families will see the benefits.
"We started last fall with six baseball players and all six have received an offer equal or pretty near the value which they put out," Asham said. "... What the parents put out they'll hopefully get more than double that back. It's kinda spending money to get money.
"... Like I said, we're not agents. We're just a means of information and how the parents and players want to disperse that information, or their videos, is completely up to them."
Asham said Triple Crown's goals are community-based and one day he would like to see the organization establish a scholarship of its own.

Sioux Valley's Randall Wasicuna, Crandall's Jordan Lee and Carroll's Jordan Seafoot all suited up as freshmen with the Minot State-Bottineau Lumberjacks baseball team that finished 3-8 in the national junior college's Region XIII.

THE SAN PEDRO area in the Dominican Republic is to professional baseball what the Ohio Valley is to the NFL: the birthplace of many great athletes. There, he boards with the Higgins, a well-meaning elderly farm couple who love their Swing, but are as clueless about Hispanic culture as Sugar is befuddled by the Midwest. Sugar is from the director-writer team of Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck. Just as their previous film, Half-Nelson wasn't the stereotypical inspiration- al account of the dedicated white teacher befriending a poor, black student, neither is Sugar the sort of feel-good, triumph-of-the-underdog authentic Matt Capps jersey White sports film that Hollywood reliably trots out. In retrospect, the hints are dropped early that Sugar's journey may not conform to our romantic ideas about the plucky kid plucked from obscurity, whose burning dream will nonetheless propel him through all adversities.

He seems more alive joking around with his family than on the ball field. At the mall, Sugar tries on new clothes; he can't afford them, so it's just a trial run. He orders "eggs" at a local diner only to be thwarted by the incomprehensible follow-up: "Scrambled, over easy, sunny-side up?" Later, at an amusement cen- ter, he navigates a bizarre, replica Matt Capps jersey Blue lengthy tunnel of flashing, pinging video games trying unsuccessfully to locate a friendly face.
Like Sugar caught in his new unfamiliar, fast-moving Ufe, the film takes a while before you see where it's going.
